MEDIA RELEASE: 28th May 2018
Local creative florist consultant, Evolve Flowers Ltd set for a blooming marvelous British Flowers Week
British Flowers Week – the national campaign to encourage everyone to buy more seasonal, locally grown cut flowers – is taking place on 18-24 June, and local creative florist & consultant, Helen Chambers NDSF based in Donington, Spalding will be celebrating in style.
Helen has been selected as one of the six finalists in the New Covent Garden Market British Flowers Week Competition hosted at the Garden Museum, Lambeth London.
The national competition required florists to submit their designs for an installation to fit within a volume of 1.5m wide x 2m long x 3m high, and to be viewed within a larger space. Fresh cut material must predominate and the design must use exclusively British-grown flowers and/or foliage and/or plants. No floral foam should be used anywhere in the design.
The design has to be an artistic response to the location, showcasing the unique seasonal quality of British flowers, plants and foliage. “With such a vast amount of fantastic British growers based around Spalding it seemed crazy not to enter and have the chance to promote Lincolnshire grown flowers” said Helen from Evolve Flowers Ltd.
”Creating large scale installations without floral foam is a technical challenge for todays’ florists after decades of using floral foam, however as I was formally trained the skills we were taught then are now becoming very on trend. I was amazed when I found out I had been selected as a finalist; it is a fantastic opportunity to showcase my skills against the five other talented finalists”
Evolve Flowers Ltd was established in Sept 2017 and provides all aspects of floristry and event décor in addition to B2B consultancy, workshops and fun days with flowers. Although British Flowers Week runs from 18 -24th June the Spirals and String British Flowers Week Workshop that was planned has had to be postponed due to Helen being selected as a finalist.
